Conservation:
This headstone and more than a dozen others were discovered in use as paving and staircase stones in a courtyard at Halytska Square 15 in the Lviv city center in autumn 2017. The stones were recovered by the Sholem Aleichem Jewish Cultural Society of Lviv and the Lviv Volunteer Center and then moved to the new Jewish cemetery adjacent to the Yanivskyi Cemetery northwest of the city center, from which they were likely originally stolen during the German occupation of World War II.
For more information, see the About Lviv page on this website and a blog post on the Vanished World website.
