Conservation:
This headstone and several others were discovered in a retaining wall behind a house at vul. Konotopska 4, southwest of the Lviv city center. During February 2020, a small volunteer event was organized by the Sholem Aleichem Jewish Cultural Society of Lviv and the Lviv Volunteer Center to recover the stones, which were then moved to the new Jewish cemetery adjacent to the Yanivskyi Cemetery northwest of the city center, from which they were likely originally stolen during the German occupation of World War II.
For more information, see the About Lviv page on this website and an article about the work on the website of Rohatyn Jewish Heritage.
