Other Notes:
[N] The text and line breaks are somewhat 'strained', due to the author's desire to have the end of lines 2-4, the first word of line 5 and the second of line 6, all rhyme with –ah ending.
[N2] The term 'kosher' implies that she kept an orthodox-Jewish household. [N3] הלכה תמים, literally 'walked flawlessly', is translated as 'of flawless character'.
[N7] Temerel is probably a diminutive of Tamar, palm tree or date, its fruit.
[N8] The descriptor Mar 'bitter' for the month of Cheshvan is widely encountered. Usually transcribed combined as Marcheshvan, it also often rendered in Hebrew as a single word מרחשון. The usual explanation given for the Mar prefix is that Cheshvan is the only Jewish month that is devoid of notable days, festive or otherwise.
