Recovered from a walkway behind the house at vul. Adama Mitskevycha 8 in downtown Dobromyl in March 2016, then installed in a newly-constructed Wall of Memory at the Dobromyl Jewish cemetery in May and June 2016; see the web page About Dobromyl for more information.

[N1] Two lions face one another. Between them a jug or laver, its handle held by the lion on the right, above which a bird hovers, serving as if a lid thereto. The פ נ abbreviation also appears here, rather than with the subsequent text.
[N2] At first sight איש נכבדי ודיב לב. Closer inspection reveals the presence of a nun instead of a vav at the beginning of the third word, yielding נדיב, not ודיב. The space between the second and third words is minimal – thus, if the yod of נכבדי is a vav and is 'transferred' to the next word to form ונדיב, this generates what must have been the intended if not the actual text of this line – איש נכבד ונדיב לב – two commonly encountered phrases on gravestones.
[N4&8] Shimin שמעין appears rather than Shimon שמעון, which is the usual spelling. Unlikely to be an error if it appears twice, it probably reflects the way his name was pronounced day-to-day.
[N6] 5689 was a Jewish leap year. As such, it had two Adar months – an extra intercalated First Adar [Adar I] and the usual Adar, renamed Second Adar [Adar II].
