Other Notes:
[N] Symbol at top is a crown in which is inscribed כתר תרה, 'Crown of Torah', indicating a male grave – within the crown emblem, תורה is misspelled as תרה.
[N] Lines 3&5 תמים/מרובים and lines 4&6 ימיו/עניו rhyme. Present also is a structure based on four appearances of the letter מ, highlighted in gold on successive lines. Thus the מ of מעשיו on line 5 [which also serves as 'מ, the honorific for מורינו which 'attaches' to אלימלך on the next line] is followed by מלך, מנחם, משהon lines 6, 7 and 8 respectively.
[N5] Literally 'his life few', חייו מועטים is translated as 'his life short'. The rhyming pair of antonyms, few/many מועטים/מרובים, both praising the deceased, is 'lost' in the English translation.
[N6-7] His given name אלימלך appears twice, on successive lines. On line 6, אלי and מלך are almost-imperceptibly spaced apart, in order to highlight מלך as being one of the 4xמ cascade [see [N] above]. Furthermore, Eli Melech, split thus, provides a reading of אלי מלך עולם נשא עניו 'my God, King, (unto Whom) the world raises its eyes' and, no doubt deliberately, may also be construed in a parallel fashion un-split as praise for 'Elimelech (unto whom) the world raises its eyes'. Elimelech 'must' therefore be repeated on the following line 7, in order to serve in a purely-genealogical capacity.
[N9] The second day of Sukkot, 16th Tishrei, 5691.
[N10] Meilech מיילעך is the popular Yiddish shortening of the Hebrew name Elimelech.
