Other Notes:
[N3] The phrase מנשים באהל תבורך – 'of women (who dwell) in tents most blessed' [Judges 5:24], is often encountered on female gravestones. These words of praise are totally removed from their biblical context, which refers to the heroine Yael bravely killing the enemy general Sisera by driving a tent peg through his temple as he sleeps.
[N4] Rechil is a Yiddish variant of רחל Rachel.
[N5] Could be the 5th Sh'vat – but more likely the 8th, given the more complete left leg of a chet ח than that of the adjacent hey of נפטרה, in the better of the two images of this gravestone.
[N6] The 3-letter abbreviation לפ'ק stands for לפרט קטן 'by the small count'. It often appears as a ligature, whereby these letters coalesce to form a single symbol. It confirms that the numeral 5 for 5000 is absent, it being obvious; a gravestone would have to predate the civil year 1239/40 for it to belong to the previous Jewish millennium.
