[N4] The year 5698 appears as 600+8+90 (תרח'ץ) rather than the usual hundreds/tens/units format 600+90+8 (תרצ'ח) because the latter spells the Hebrew word for 'murder' or 'kill'. תרצ'ח was therefore often avoided on gravestones that year, throughout the Jewish world, for fear of 'the evil eye' (עין הרע).
